Marijke Eliasberg, TNSP Founder and Co- Artistic Director
MARIJKE ELIASBERG, native of the Netherlands, Founder and Co-Artistic
Director of The Next Stage Project (TNSP), has been dancing, teaching
and choreographing for the past 13 years in New York City and the
Netherlands. In 2001 Marijke founded the dance collective: The Next
Stage Project (TNSP), which she co-directs with Jana Hicks. With TNSP,
she travels around the world, teaching, creating and making exchange and
performance projects possible.
Marijke holds a BFA in Physical Education with a specialization in Dance. She continued her Modern Dance studies at the Rotterdam Dance Academy (Codarts) and Dance Space Inc. in NYC. She has performed with numerous companies and choreographers including Jana Hicks, Pauline Levick, Guido Tuveri, SunHwa Chung, Max Stone, and Kevin Wynn.
Marijke currently is on faculty at Steps on Broadway, Peridance Center, Ballet Arts and the Joffrey Ballet School (Contemporary Program). Other teaching credits include: Dance New Amsterdam, Dance Forum, Florida State University in NYC, Dance New Jersey, and abroad: Theaterschool School of the Arts, New Dance Studios and Henny Jurriens Foundation (Amsterdam), Rotterdam Dance Academy/Codarts (Rotterdam), Holland Dance Festival and Studio K'dans (The Hague), Fedes (Belgium), Danshogskolan (Sweden), Det Norske Dansecenter (Norway), Vannes (France), Step by Step (Germany) and Isha (India).
Her choreography has been shown in the Netherlands, USA, Germany, Norway, Sweden, France, Japan, and India. In New York City her works have been showcased at City Center Studios, Peridance Capezio Theater, Evolving Arts Theater, Dance Forum, Steps on Broadway, CRS (Center for Remembering and Sharing), University Settlement, Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, and the Cunningham Studios as well as in New Jersey, Michigan, New Hampshire, and Hawaii (Maui).
In New York, Marijke currently produces the TNSP Showcase Series: NEXT! a dance showcase Aiming to give dance companies, artists, dancers and choreographers from around the globe an opportunity to connect and share their work. She also produced and directed the monthly showcase REDSHOES at One Arm Red in DUMBO Brooklyn and has been assistant to choreographers: Kevin Wynn, Gabrielle Roth and Johannes Wieland.
